Calabrian chiles add a subtle kick. This makes enough to have leftovers, so you can have pizza sauce on hand whenever you want pizza at home!

  • Crushed tomatoes make up the bulk of this sauce. Because most of the sauce is just tomatoes, use the highest quality tomatoes that are in your budget.
  • Grated garlic adds punchy, garlicky flavor. It, along with the tomatoes, concentrate as they cook, making this simple sauce big on flavor.
  • Olive oil adds subtle flavor.
  • Salt ties everything together.
  • Calabrian chiles are optional, but if you’d like your sauce to have a little spice, you should include them.

how to make the easiest pizza sauce

Dump the can of tomatoes in a medium bowl. Add the other ingredients, then whisk until everything is combined.

Spread onto your favorite pizza crust, and cook following your favorite pizza recipe. Enjoy!

  1. You can usually find Calabrian Chile paste in the international aisle, near the European foods, or with the pickled items and olives. If you can’t find it, substitute crushed red pepper flakes or leave it out!
  2. You likely won’t need all of this sauce for your pizza, depending on how much pizza you’re making. You can keep the leftovers in the fridge for up to a few days. I like to make a batch, then freeze the leftovers in 1-cup portions so I can use it whenever I need it! I use Souper Cubes to portion it out.
